Epic Universe Rope Drop Strategy: Early Entry Tips & Best Rides

Epic Universe Rope Drop Strategy: Early Entry Tips & Best Rides

There isn’t one theme park strategy that works for everyone. What’s best for you depends on what’s important to you. Still there are basic early morning tips you need to help you plan for a great start. Your mileage will also vary depending on if you’re staying at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel and eligible for Early Park Admission. Here’s a morning strategy for making the most of the first few hours at Epic Universe and which attractions you may want to prioritize based on what you’re looking forward to seeing.

Ride First at Epic Universe: Where to Go

The first few hours of a theme park day can have lower waits as park guests are still entering and capacity is lower overall.

However, during Early Park Admission for resort guests, not all attractions are open.

This means every guest in the park at that time heads toward a limited number of attractions.

Those rides often start the day with a sustained wait.

In this strategy, we’re also considering which queues aren’t nice to wait in later in the day due to heat or rain. Looking at you, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders and Dragon Racer’s Rally.

Who can get into Early Park Admission?

Premier Passholders and Preferred Passholders can access Early Park Entry at Universal Studios Florida or Universal Islands of Adventure. While passes don’t include park entry to Epic Universe yet, they do include free parking at this park. This may make one want to confirm if Early Park Admission is included for Universal Orlando Passholders. It isn’t yet! Knowing that can help you build your strategy if there are UOAPs in your travel party.

Early entry opportunities are only for Universal resort guests in 2026.

What is Open at Epic Universe Early Entry?

The specific rides open for Early Park Admission at Epic Universe may vary by day.

Go with an open mind and be flexible to shift your plans if an attraction is down or isn’t part of the extra hour offering that day.

Tip: Look at the Universal Orlando Resort app or the signs displaying wait times inside Epic Universe right after you enter under the chronos to confirm what is open.

Here are some rides that may be open:

What time does Epic Universe early entry start?

Check the app or website for times during your visit to confirm as it can change.

Here is how timing has gone pretty regularly.

If Universal Epic Universe has hours from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., you can expect the one hour of Early Park Admission to be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

A Rope Drop Strategy for Resort Guests with Early Park Entry

You’re eligible for early entry? Great. First, planning your arrival time is key.

What time should you actually get to Epic Universe?

In order to take full advantage of special early park time, you will want to be at the park and in line to enter before it officially begins.

That means working through your anticipated travel time, any time that may be spent waiting for a resort bus, ride share or walking through the parking lot.

We’re talking sneakers on Epic Universe ground before a 9:00 a.m. early entry.

What Should You Ride First at Epic Universe?

If you’re in the front of the pack and all rides are operating for early entry, Mine-Cart Madness is a great place to start. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge or Yoshi’s Adventure can also be a great place to start if the waits haven’t already crept up.

If Stardust Racers is exciting to you, this can also be a good place to start, especially if you’re further back or would rather avoid the Nintendo rush.

If Isle of Berk calls to you, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders and Dragon Racer’s Rally are great starters.

Consider Ride Reliability in Your Epic Universe Rope Drop Strategy

Even if rides are regularly open during early entry, they may be closed for maintenance during that time or even still when the park opens.
