• Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens refreshed at Magic Kingdom this spring with new effects after a long closure and major refurbishment.
• Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopens at Magic Kingdom this spring with new ride vehicles featuring handheld blasters and a refreshed ending scene.
• Soarin’ Across America debuts at Epcot this summer for America’s 250th anniversary.
• At Hollywood Studios, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run launches a new mission on May 22, 2026 featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu.
• The Magic of Disney Animation opens late summer 2026 at Hollywood Studios with a new short film, Disney drawing class, character meet and greets and more.
• Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show opens summer 2026 at Hollywood Studios.

Universal Orlando Summer 2026 Additions

• Volcano Bay Nights is an after hours summer party with music and lights at Universal’s water park. 
• Summer Fun at Universal brings entertainment offerings like the Universal Mega Movie Parade, CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular nighttime show and Hogwarts Always light show from May to August.
• Back to Hogwarts season is August 1 to September 1 celebrating back to school at the iconic Wizarding institution.

The last two are included with regular Universal tickets.

SeaWorld Summer 2026 Additions

• Electric Ocean, SeaWorld’s Summer Celebration, is select dates May 22 through August 30 with special entertainment, fireworks and themed food and beverage offerings.
• Bands, Brew & BBQ happens at SeaWorld on the weekends from July 4 through August 23 with BBQ, special beers and a live concert line up.

Both of these events are included with regular SeaWorld tickets.

Average Summer Temperatures and Rainfall in Central Florida

Florida is known for its hot and humid summer temperatures from June through August. Even if you’re used to the heat, the humidity can be overwhelming. It’s important to stay hydrated and protect yourself from the sun. A midday pool break or afternoon nap in the room may be the best option.

Be aware that the feels like temperature regularly exceeds 100°F with 10:00 am to 3:00 pm being the hottest part of the day.

Starting midsummer, there is usually a faithful afternoon shower each day, often around 3:00 pm. These afternoon storms can come out of nowhere and disappear just as quickly. Still, they may put a damper on parades and other outdoor fun like shows and attractions.

How to Plan Around Afternoon Storms
